Based at: Head Office: Derry/Londonderry (with flexibility)
Reports to: Head of Global Citizenship Education
Contract: Full Time
Context of the role
Children in Crossfire is a registered charity in Ireland that facilitates International Development and Global Citizenship Education activities. Our vision is a compassionate world where every child can reach their potential. We work in partnership with local organisations in Tanzania and Ethiopia to improve the lives of the most disadvantaged young children, with a particular focus on Early Childhood Education (ECE). By improving childhood care we are changing lives and empowering young children and their communities to build a better future. In Ireland, we work through GCE in formal and informal sectors to compassionately engage the public in issues of global justice through our Educating the Heart1 programme.
The GCE Programme Coordinator role will continue to advance and implement the GCE strategy, by bringing the programme of work to scale and working in close partnership with relevant key stakeholders within the GCE sector.
Note: Global Citizenship Education is often used interchangeably with the terms Development Education, Global Education, Global Learning, or Education for Sustainable Development.
Major Responsibilities:
- To coordinate the design and implementation of Children in Crossfire’s GCE programmes in the formal (education) and informal (youth and community groups) sectors across Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland.
- To oversee implementation of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) and Monitoring, Evaluation & Learning (MEL) systems that underpin the GCE programme.
- Work closely with the wider Children in Crossfire team providing support as required.
This is a role for a highly motivated and dynamic person who is passionate about the work of Children in Crossfire. The successful candidate must have paid work experience in delivering GCE programmes in either formal or informal settings as well as demonstrable knowledge of GCE, international development, and issues of global justice.
