Atlantic Coast Cycle Challenge
The Atlantic Coast Cycle Challenge will be a must-do for local cyclists, taking in some of the country’s most breath-taking scenery in Counties Derry, Donegal and Antrim.
Outlining the new route, event lead organiser Jim O’Hara said:
“Leaving from Derry, the Atlantic Coast Cycle Challenge will make its way through Inishowen to Greencastle. From there, the group will take the ferry across to Magilligan and onwards over the mountain to Garvagh, taking in Binevenagh and Benbradagh en route. Then it’s across the Bann into County Antrim and up to the iconic Dark Hedges, made famous by Game of Thrones. Day one finishes at the Giant’s Causeway.
“Next morning it’s back along the coast road through Portrush and Portstewart all the way back to Magilligan and the ferry across Lough Foyle. From Greencastle we’ll be making our way across Inishowen to Ballyliffin. Then, to finish on the Sunday morning, it’s a relatively short ride from through Clonmany and Buncrana back to Derry.
“This Cycle will be the ideal way to make a difference for a great cause while having a great time. I encourage anyone with an interest in cycling – you don’t need to be an expert – to get in touch, sign up and take part. It really will be a memorable three days.”
Children in Crossfire Community Fundraiser Aishling Cunningham said:
“Anyone wanting to take on this challenge should register quickly as places are limited and demand will be high. A £50 deposit will secure your place, and we ask participants to raise a further £250 between now and the event. To book, just contact me on 028 7126 9898 or email me at firstname.lastname@example.org.
“84p in every £1 Children in Crossfire raises is invested in our Early Childhood Development programmes in Tanzania and Ethiopia, so people will know their fundraising efforts make a real difference in very many young lives.
“Our sincere thanks go to O’Hara Motors and Halliday Motors, who are the driving forces behind this great event year on year. Children in Crossfire is lucky to have their support and we are very grateful to them for their goodwill.”
