Santa Appeal

In memory of Christopher Gallagher

In 2006, Christopher Gallagher from Shantallow was travelling the world when he contracted malaria and, tragically, passed away.

He was only 23 years old.

The following year, Christopher’s parents, Martin and Mary, began fundraising for Children in Crossfire. Their goals were to: Keep their beloved son’s memory alive; Raise awareness about this dreadful disease, especially its prevention; Support vital healthcare programmes for some of the world’s most vulnerable children.

17 years on and this wonderful couple have now raised close to £100,000 for us. Every Christmas, Martin plays Santa at the entrance to the Guildhall, bringing festive joy to everyone he meets and receiving generous donations from the public.
