Our Development Education team are delighted to have been invited to deliver two core skills of British Councils Connecting Classrooms programme! We see this as an opportunity to engage with more schools, more students and more teachers on themes of Critical Thinking, Problem Solving, Student Leadership and Personal Development.
Connecting Classrooms is a learning journey for schools; offering free CPD training for teachers to enhance their knowledge, skills and confidence to teach 6 essential core skills. These 6 core skills, that British Council have developed alongside educational experts, are the skills they believe young people need for life and work in an ever-changing and more globalised world.
With our extensive experience preparing young people to become active change makers, we are well suited to deliver 2 of these core skills, offering teacher training, support and guidance, and practical tips to engage young people in critical thinking and student leadership.
There are 4 aspects to the Connecting Classrooms journey
- Learn
Teachers will attend free CPD training to support the implementation of the core skills within their school
- Connect
Use the schools online platform to connect with teachers across the world, sharing ideas, resources and passion
- Engage
With a £3000 grant available for 2 teachers per school travel to Africa, Asia or the Middle East to visit and work closely with a partner school.
- Collaborate
With your partner school, complete an educational project to support students in the development of the core skills. Template projects are available to support you with this aspect
We look forward to working closely with schools on their unique learning journey and helping to create opportunities for development education within classrooms in Northern Ireland and beyond!
